A realization

Today I had an interesting insight. And, I have had it before, in different forms.

I don't care much about the Christian gospel.

I mean, if I really and honestly examine myself, I notice that I care more about "evangelizing" about ...
  • board games,
  • TV shows and movies,
  • cast iron cookware,
  • green technology,
  • "good" politicians,
  • interesting cooking techniques or styles,
  • organic farming and agriculture,
  • Linux and Free Software,

...and whatever else more than I do about the Christian gospel: that Jesus Christ, who is a member of the Triune Godhead, became incarnate, and lived and died and rose again from the dead in order to save sinful man and the rest of His fallen creation from sin, corruption, and death, and that He will come again.

I mean, I know what the gospel is. And, I know about God, about Christianity, about love. But, am I really saturated in the truth and the overwhelming goodness of the gospel, or is it only in my head? Do I really know God; Do I live as a disciple of Christ, loving without and selfishnes or selfcenteredness?

How do I make God more important to me? How do I really develop a satisfaction in Him? How can I make myself truly love Him? How do I develop an obsession for God?

Lord, have mercy on me a sinner. +

Twike

I would just like to say that i would really like one of these:

The Tw(in B)ike= The Twike

  • Electric motor: 5 kW
  • Range: up to 130 km (~80 mi)
  • Speed: 85 km/h (~53 mph)
  • Charge: 1 km/min at 230V
  • Energy pack: NiMH 360V 18Ah
  • Zero emissions electric drive yields the equivalent of 300-600 mpg!

For more info, go to TWIKE.us or to the Wikipedia entry on the Twike.

Using information from PG&E, a kWh of electricity costs about $.17 right now. That means that if a Twike has the 6 kWh NiMH battery installed, it would cost ~$1.02 to fully charge and it could go 80-90 miles on a full charge. That means that you are paying ~1.1-1.2 cents (thats ~$0.011-0.012) per mile in a Twike.

Wow.

[By the way, I thought to post this info while watching this documentary. It's called "Who Killed the Electric Car?" and it's about the death of the electric car with specific focus on the life and times of the General Motors EV1.]

Spin in 2007

I was watching this documentary about "spin" in the political campaigning of the 1992 Presidential elections and in the media's coverage of those campaigns.

(You can also watch and download the movie here.)

There is a portion of it which I found interesting. Around 16 minutes and 43 seconds into the documentary, it starts talking about how there were a number of Democratic candidates vying for their party's nomination for President. Among these, there was one candidate whom the media dismissed and ignored - Larry Agran. He was rudely treated by media staff, cropped out of newspaper pictures, and left out of lists of polling numbers, even when his popularity in the polls reached levels equal to or higher than some of the media's favorite candidates. He was even excluded from the televised debates of the various candidates of his party.

All of this information reminded me of the political campaigns of presidential candidates for 2008, and especially that of the Republican candidate Ron Paul. (His official campaign site can be found here.) In his campaign so far, he has been rudely treated by the media (Although it is not the case that he has been formally excluded from televised debates, in the debates he has been almost ignored in the questioning, asked much fewer questions than the rest of the candidates, and those questions offered to him were very biased and slanted.), excluded from lists of polling numbers, and, even worse, when his poll numbers beat out all other candidates, the news reporters explained away his success as cheating on the part of the poll voters.

So, like laundry, politics and the media are in a big "spin" cycle as history repeats itself. And all the stains are still there.

Oh those wacky charismatics! They really know how to party!

Oh, and by the way, I totally agree with the commenter on YouTube who gives this video the "Best use of a seizure as a dance move" award.

Man, this really gave me a good laugh.
